Dr. Madden has treated over 10,000 injured New
Yorkers, and over 1,000 New York City firefighters. He is a board
certified surgeon who served for over fifteen years as both the Clinical
Director of the New York Hospital-Cornell Burn Center and the Director
of Trauma at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. The results of his
research on wound healing and skin substitutes have been presented at
national and international meetings, and he has contributed many
articles to peer review journals and surgical textbooks on the care of
injured patients.
In 1994, Mayor Giuliani and Fire Commissioner Howard Safir awarded him
The Fire Department of New York's, Department Medal for his dedicated
care of New York's Bravest. It was the first time a civilian had
received such an honor since 1913. He was also the first recipient of
the Fire Commissioner's Humanitarian Award, and, in addition, he was
named an honorary Police Surgeon by the New York Police Department.
Dr. Madden took time off from his medical career in order to write. He
has continued to pursue his new interest, and he's completing his second
novel. Dr. Madden and his wife live in New York. |
